About

About Free Insulation Loft

An independent guide to free loft insulation and loft insulation grants in the UK: who qualifies, which scheme pays, and what the job costs when no scheme does.

In one sentence: we publish sourced, dated information about loft insulation funding and costs, and, if you ask, pass your enquiry to independent firms covering your postcode. We do not install, survey or sell anything.

What this site is

Free Insulation Loft is published by SEO-DONS LTD. Published by SEO-DONS LTD (company no. 16766013), 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. You can check the company on the Companies House register.

We started from a simple observation: the search results for "free loft insulation" were full of pages still inviting people to apply for a scheme that closed in March 2026, quoting savings figures the Energy Saving Trust no longer uses, and describing loft insulation as free for everyone. We wanted one place that said, plainly, who qualifies, which scheme is open, and what it costs if you do not qualify.

What this site is not

  • Not the government. We are not GOV.UK, Ofgem, the Welsh or Scottish Governments or the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, and we do not decide who gets funding.
  • Not an energy supplier. ECO4 is funded by energy suppliers; we are not one of them and do not act for them.
  • Not an installer. We do not survey, fit or guarantee insulation, and we hold no trade accreditation. The registrations that matter are the installer's, such as TrustMark and Competent Person Scheme membership, and we explain how to check them. We cannot guarantee that any scheme will fund your loft.
  • Not a review site. We publish no testimonials, star ratings or case studies. Where we use an example, it is labelled "Illustrative example" and built only from published figures.

How we check facts

Every scheme rule, date and figure on this site comes from a primary source, and we record the date we read it. Scheme pages change, and GOV.UK guidance pages can lag behind the rules, so we re-read the source before updating a figure. Our main sources, most recently read on 29 September 2026:

How enquiries work

If you send an enquiry, we pass it to relevant independent firms covering your postcode, and they contact you directly. There is no charge to you for this and no obligation to accept any quote. Whether a scheme funds your loft is decided by the scheme, the council or the energy supplier, not by us or by the firm. Our privacy notice explains what happens to your details.

What we will not do

Loft insulation lasts around 40 years, according to the Energy Saving Trust, so a job done badly is a problem for a long time. That is why we spend as much space on checking installers, ventilation and spray foam as on grants. We will not tell you a scheme is open when it has closed, promise that you will qualify, invent a deadline, or quote a saving without saying which house type and starting depth it applies to. If the honest answer is "you will have to pay for this yourself", we say so and show you what it costs.

Start with who qualifies, compare the schemes, or read the FAQs.

What happens next
