Ask for loft insulation quotes
Free Insulation Loft is an independent guide, not an installer, an energy supplier or a council. Tell us about your loft and your postcode and we pass your enquiry to independent firms that cover your area. You deal with them directly, check them on the TrustMark register, and decide. Whether a scheme funds your loft is decided by the scheme, not by us or the firm.
- No charge to you for the introduction.
- No obligation to accept any quote.
- Check any firm yourself before you sign — our guides show which register to look up.
What helps a firm give you a useful answer
You only need your name, email and postcode. If you want a quote that means something, a few details about the loft make the difference between a firm guessing and a firm pricing the job:
- What is up there now. Nothing, a thin layer, or something close to 270mm? A tape measure pushed down to the ceiling in a couple of places tells you.
- The type of house. A bungalow, detached, semi or mid-terrace changes the loft area and the price.
- Access and storage. Where the hatch is, whether the loft is boarded, and how much is stored up there.
- Anything unusual. A room in the roof, a flat roof, signs of damp or leaks, or existing spray foam.
- Whether you hope a scheme will pay. If you think you qualify for ECO4, LA Flex or a devolved scheme, say so; the firm will tell you whether it delivers that scheme where you live.
What happens to your enquiry
We read it, decide which kind of firm fits (a straightforward cold loft, a boarded loft, a room in the roof, a spray-foam survey), and pass it to independent firms covering your postcode. They contact you, usually by email unless you add a phone number. You are free to ignore any of them, and a firm that pesters you after you have said no is worth reporting back to us. Tenants should mention that they rent, because the landlord's written permission will be needed before any survey. Our privacy notice explains exactly who sees your details and for how long. If you change your mind, use the contact form to ask us to delete your enquiry.
Before you agree to anything
Check the firm on the TrustMark register, ask for the finished depth and ventilation plan in writing, and compare at least three quotes. On the Energy Saving Trust's averages, a bare loft costs about £650 to £1,200 to insulate in Great Britain and installed insulation carries 0% VAT until 31 March 2027. If a quote is far outside that range, ask why. Not sure you need to pay at all? Try the checker on who qualifies first.
